Hebrews addresses readers who reverenced the Old Testament prophets and angels. When we think about Moses, Elijah, Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Amos, we must admit the prophets were an impressive group. In Hebrews, Paul, the author, emphasized that Jesus was better than the prophets. God had spoken through the prophets at many times and in various ways but when God spoke through Jesus, He revealed the Son as Creator, Sustainer, and Redeemer. What God announced through the prophets was important, but what He spoke through His Son was climactic, definitive, and superlative.
